Student Retreat: Encounter

I highly encourage all of you to attend this years Fall Semester retreat: Encounter. It will be a weekend of community, prayer and a renewal of faith in the one who gives everything meaning. We will be exploring the ways we encounter Christ and learning how we can rediscover and fall in love with Him all over again (or for the first time). Times of prayer, Bible Study, and Sacraments will accompany community activities like a canoe trip in the lake at Camp Woodman and a group trip to the UL football game (yes we will be tailgating). Breakout sessions for upper and lower classes will be part of the talks. Registration is only $10 and we'll be feeding you well all weekend long! We'll leave Friday evening and return early afternoon on Sunday. Don't forget, you have Monday off so you'll have plenty of time to rest and visit family when we return. Sign up now so we can plan to have you there! See me (Amy) to register or sign up in the Cafe.

How you can become 'childlike'....

The back to school party last night at Wisdom was a blast! Free food, lots of new friends, great info on how to get involved and lets not forget those fun jumps! I felt like a kid again coming down that slide over and over again. Jesus does tell us unless we become like these little ones......
Anyway, it was a great kickoff to what I think is going to be an amazing semester. We have lots of exciting things going on this semester. Please keep tuning in to get involved with what helps you to grow in your faith the most! I'll be posting the semester schedule in the side bar soon. Also, pictures from last night will be up asap so keep checking back for that! Let me know what you think about the events at Wisdom so far this semester and any ideas you might have for further activities.

CandleLight Mass tonight at 8pm at Wisdom.

the T-Shirt Dilemma

You may be wondering what has happend to our T-Shirt Contest. Who Won? And Why haven't we heard anything? Well, I'll tell ya. You guys sure didn't make it easy on me. I kinda feel like this is the Bush/Gore election all over again (do you guys even remember that?) Basically, as you saw, the votes were almost solely in the direction of two particular t-shirt designs # 2 and # 11. I did receive quite a few votes through email and we need to have a vote off!

Meanwhile...
I received a tshirt design that was just short of the deadline and I feel like it should atleast be given to you for some feedback.

What all this means is:

I'm going to put the two favorites up along with the new design. Vote on the one you like the most, once. Also, for this round I'm going to ask that only UL students vote since I think our little competition stretched into the realms of the greater world wide web last time, which is cool but a little outside of the audience for this particular contest.

I do have to say how impressed I am by the designs. You guys are so talented and we would be lucky to wear any of them. Father Chester saw them today and was also really impressed.

Ok, here they are. Good luck and happy voting.

Voting will end Sunday night @ midnight and the winner will be announced at Camp Wisdom. Please don't vote through email or facebook this time.

Vote for our new logo!

The Catholic Student Organization wants everyone to know who we are on campus; Ragin Cajun Catholics! With the right to show the university our pride for both our school and our faith comes, of course, an opportunity for, among other things, a new tshirt! (Most likely the design will become a flag and posters and the new header for this site too...but one thing at a time!) So I've left it up to you. This week some of you entered your designs for the new logo and now it's time for you to vote! To vote simply leave a comment with the number of the design you like the best. You may vote anonymously or create a profile. Vote based on the concept of the design- all designs can be cleaned up and tweaked for those who are a little graphically challenged. You have until Midnight on Monday. Ok everyone lets get crackin with those votes..... (Everyone can vote!)
